American Chippendale Slant Front Desk - Lot #: 137

circa 1750, cherry with white pine secondary wood. Dovetailed solid end case with overlapping slant lid with pinned bread-board ends, and sliding supports, over four graduated overlapping dovetailed drawers with original engraved brass back plates and tear drop handles with cotter pin anchors, over ogee scroll cut apron and ogee bracket feet. Unusual regional style with seven feet. Interior with central well with fan carved larger dovetailed drawer over smaller drawer, set in dovetailed frame and made to pull out, flanked by dovetailed document drawers, flanked by two cubby holes, over single drawer, over two drawers, all with original brass mushroom knobs; 37 x 19.7 x 37" high; writing height at 30.5".
