Conn. Decorated Six-Board Blanket Chest - Lot #: 112circa 1st quarter of the 18th century, pine with original red painted finish and original polychrome painted vase of tulips on front with scrolling flowers below on front, bordered by green painted half round molding. Overhanging single board top with thumb molded edge, cut-out bootjack ends, original wrought iron lock & cotter pin hinges. Interior lined with 1835 "New England Advocate" newspaper from Middletown, Conn.; 42 x 18 x 27" high. On the interior there are two tags, one from the Stewart Gregory Collection and the second from the Conn. Tercentenary Exhibition.
Condition: Paint on front circa 70%, sides, 98% and lid 0%, legs restored.
