circa 1820-40 in cherry with mahogany and ebony inlaid pinwheels and stars, nicely cut-out boot-jack ends and scalloped apron inlaid with triangles and diamonds, all in untouched wonderful polished patina, 4.6 x 11 x5.5" high. Printed label on base from Barbara Johnson Collect. Barbara Johnson, née Piasecka (1937-2013) was a philanthropist, art collector, and heiress to the Johnson & Johnson fortune through her late husband John Seward Johnson I (1895-1983). Barbara Johnson studied art history at Wroclaw University in her native Poland. She is best know in the antique world for her amazing collection of art, antiques, and memorabilia related to whaling. Johnson’s whaling collection included books, manuscripts, documents, paintings, prints, whaling tools, nautical and navigational equipment, marine antiques, & scrimshaw.
